Phil Baker was born in 1960 in Rochester, Kent. The family immigrated to New Zealand in 1972 and then again to Australia in 1979. For the record Philip supports England in soccer, the All Blacks in rugby and Australia in everything else.
After completing Bible College in 1979, Phil worked in children's ministry for about 7 years during which time he wrote a children's curriculum and produced the infamous 'Gospel Kid' tapes.
Philip married Heather in 1984 and they moved to Wellington, New Zealand, where they worked with Churches and Bible Colleges. Upon returning to Perth Philip oversaw the Riverview Bible College before taking over the role as Senior Minister of Riverview Church when his parents divorced in 1987.
Since that time Riverview has grown and morphed into a contemporary and creative Church focussed on connecting unchurched people to God and making a practical difference in the city of Perth and beyond. Riverview is also instrumental in developing connections throughout the body of Christ through initiatives such as Church Together and the 500Plus Church Network.
Philip is an author, a cook and an artist (although this would not have been possible without the invention of abstract art). He enjoys running, drinking coffee and red wine and hanging out with his wife Heather and three daughters, Jazmin, Temily and Isabel.
The blog is a response to those who call him a Luddite simply because he doesn't have a laptop or computer in his office.
