Scatology and Kakalogology

In studying the book of Philippians this month I have been quite interested in how the word 'skubalon' has been translated. Found in Phil 3:8.....  "What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ"

The KJV has dung and some believe that probably the best translation for contemporary ozzies would be either crap or its close cousin found on bumper stickers globally as in 'scubalon happens!'

For those wanting further clarity I recommend Michael Svigel's paper 'Toward An Evangelical Theology Of Cussing'. On the use of skubalon itself the best article I found was by Daniel Wallace. [Coincidentally on the same site.]
