The first impression made me shudder with horror and remorse for choosing to take a coffee at cRAVE, Church St, Terrigal - umbrellas above the footpath tables proudly proclaiming the use of 'Schibello' coffee, a brand I had only previously tried once at a coffee shop in Norton St, Leichardt, with disastrous aftertaste. Nevertheless, the presence of locals and the fact it was one street back from the main street (find Zucchini Flower in Bondi Beach and you will soon discover the pattern of 'one street back from the beach and filled only with locals' bodes well for the culinary experience that is to follow) encouraged me to give the brand one more try at the hands of the barista at cRAVE. I did, however, roll the dice hard with the request of a ristretto...there is no way to mask a bad ristretto - it's either good or it isn't (They gained points for the fact they even had ristretto on the drinks menu at a time when some cafes, after placing your order, ask what flavour you would like added...to which I always respond, "Do you have coffee flavour?"). I further pushed the test by opting to drink the ristretto unadulterated with sugar - the strictest of control elements for this experiment. Like the great Sergey Bubka cRAVE cleared the bar with room to spare - a thick, smooth ristretto insulated with a handsome coat of crema...4 cups!

My recommendation for Coffs is Acqua at park beach. They serve Lavazza down next to the Jetty but was unable to sample. Drove up to Bellingen on sat afternoon and visited 'Sis De Lane'....Very attentive and a very nice cup of tea....although the coffee looked great. They only opened on thursday so this is their first internet mention...

So pleased to be reading these posts. I have just moved to Yamba from Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW. I must say the Southern Highlands does food and coffee like nowhere else I have resided, it was a sad point for both my husband and I who now attend Wellspring Churhc here. Thanks for the tips re: Coffs Harbour, I may have to visit for a 'coffee'.
