Coffee Blog - Overseas - Auckland
Should be no shortage here. Indeed New Zealand has led Australia in the coffe stakes for some time, although I would say both countries are on a par now. The Kiwis had a national cafe mag way before us....Anyway where do we go??

Check out Maladict's Fix, at 1 Crisp Road, Clarks Beach, Auckland. They have their own roastery, Zeke's Serious Coffee... Haven't been there, but if they live up to their reputation and the awards they've won, then they can't be too bad at all.

Bosshog
Go for a walk up High Street. Ponsonby is too pretentious for it's own good. High street has lots of boutique cafes and coffee shops - and some brilliant fashion stores too.

Vulcan lane is just off Queen street, and leads into High street.

Allpress Coffee
Coffee Roasters
192 Victoria Street West

These guys have a full on roasting business and every blend you can dream of. They have a fast and furious cafe attached - divine!! Well worth the effort of going. It is about 5 minutes from Sky Tower. Half way between Victoria Park Market and Sky Tower.

Bosshog has landed it, though if you cannot go to Allpress itself (i.e. you are not in Auckland) treat yourself to some of their blend in home (where too often the Nescafe Blend 43 Sump Oil is brought out). Some of the finest beans I have ever ground and extracted at home - www.allpress.co.nz

1st pick:

Altezano
233 Symonds St
Auckland

All they do is coffee, and they do it well.

The roast coffee for various cafes, and they know what they are doing.

Have a seat outside, or on one of two couch chairs, or on one of a few bar stools looking out to the traffic.

It's a hip grunge kind of feel, the coffee is excellent!

2nd Pick:
Mecca Cafe
85 Tamaki Drive
Mission Bay

Not to be confused with Mecca Stonehouse, also in Mission Bay.

Very good coffee. I still use their beans more often than not.

Possibly the most expensive cafe coffee in Auckland, but it's usually worth it.

Mission Bay is a beautiful place, grab a take away coffee and wander around the beach, play with your kids at the west end playground, or just enjoy the cafe culture.

Sorry all..went to find allpress...it has moved, now on Drake st, roun d the corner really...Anyway the coffee was good but the croissant was the worst I have ever had...just being crescent shaped does not a croissant make. How come people are detail conscious about one thing and abysmal in something else...sigh.
